Death Valley National Park
As a springtime retreat, Kelsey and our friends made the trek into the desert during one of California’s Superbloom events. Under certain conditions and lots of rainfall, the hills and mountains come alive. A sea of color dancing through the sand.
Our visit unfolded in the spring, when the island bursts into life with lush greenery and vibrant blooms. Yellow mustard flowers swayed in the wind, adding vibrant color to the landscape as we explored secluded trails with knowledgeable guides. Each stop revealed a different side of Catalina, but arriving at the beaches of Emerald Bay was unforgettable. Among the sand and rocks, we found delicate blue sailfish scattered along the shore, enhancing the sense of wonder in this coastal haven.
At Two Harbors, we launched the drone, capturing a perspective that truly revealed Catalina’s dual nature—so vast yet contained, a sanctuary in the middle of the Pacific. The aerial view was a reminder of the island’s timeless beauty, unspoiled and profoundly humbling.
